What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
As a QWOC the odds are greatly against my community and especially in the cannabis industry. The repercussion of being underestimated, outcasted and belittled, is the growing struggle to remain resilient and light hearted. I am very passionate and driven to succeed in this industry and facing these struggles relentlessly is my greatest obstacle.
What did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
I’m changing my family’s narrative by working in the cannabis industry. I come from generations of substance abuse, the war on drugs criminalized us and ingrained much fear around cannabis. Everyday I remember that I am writing herstory not only for the cannabis industry but for my family and community.
How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
By being a rock star! I put 120% into everything I do and remain authentic at every turn. I have been the only woman on my team enough times to know that simply having an ally changes everything. No need to wait for an invite to the “Boys Club”, no need to be sexualized or feel unsafe. I hold space in every room and conversation for my community.
