What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
It has much been like any other industry for women frankly because you know it’s about pay level, not having equal pay, it’s about lack of advancement. Also, the lack of female leadership. I think a lot of the industry came from, I’ll call it “the dark side,” and that has been traditionally men or a majority of men and as they moved into the grows and into the legal markets there was a lack of women. I feel fortunate that we work for a company that right out the gate we were paying a decent wage and it didn’t matter if you were male or female. We have promoted from within so, we’ve given a lot of opportunities to women over the 10 years we have been in business.

What’s your favorite Halo Infusions product?
I have a few that I really like and use with some frequency. The Canna Confections Vanilla Caramels were sort of my idea ’cause I like caramels. For sleep that is what 1 tend to use them for or body aches or body pain. The Cannabliss Gummies really help with sleep without getting too high. You can function well and still get some relief. Our Chronic Health Pain Relief Ointment is a topical so there is no inebriation if you will. I was really surprised a topical could relieve pain in the way that it does.

What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
Being a Latina woman i feel like i don’t get taken seriously a lot or I get taken advantage of. Unfortunately, I’ve seen that a lot but I can say the companies that I work for have just been amazing and have been a great support. Especially empowering women and that’s why I’m with them. I believe in them. I believe in the product and it’s great to see them grow and also wanting me to grow with them and that’s the beauty of it.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
I believe empowering women should be like supporting each other no matter if it’s just showing up to an event or sharing a post, liking or even just talking to someone that needs someone to talk to. Empowering women to me means pushing each other and being there for each other. I love when women help me and thank me for helping them grow with a piece of advice or anything else. think that is awesome.

What’s your favorite Halo Infusions product?

What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
Proving my knowledge, skills and abilities. I work with my husband and many times when he is accompanying me somewhere, people tend to direct everything to him. Many times he has to redirect them to me. I feel women in male-dominated industries have to work twice as hard for half the recognition.

Why did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
I’ve always had a passion and love for cannabis, but never had thoughts of working in the industry. After meeting my husband and realizing I was organically and considerably really great at distillation, the rest was history. I fell in love. Taught me to always expect the unexpected, just never know where you’ll find your purpose.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
I have employed many women in my business and am a big supporter to all of the industry’s women in cannabis functions. I want IO extracts to be a primarily women ran company! I want to keep breaking the stigma of women’s capabilities all around and eventually mentor other women in extraction!

What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
I’ve noticed that being a woman and being short gets me overlooked, a lot. People always tend to assume that whatever male coworker I’m working with that day is the manager, when I actually am the manager. I’m not necessarily treated rudely after they find out, but the fact that it shocks some people is mildly annoying. Of course, this isn’t every interaction I have, but it does happen.

Why did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
I really wanted to work in the cannabis industry because I have a passion for the benefits it provides and wanted to invest my time into a job where I felt passionate.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
In order to promote other women in the industry I treat every single person man and woman like equals and I never gender-assign roles. I don’t assume that a woman can’t lift a heavy box or that a man can’t sweep. We are all equal adults and I think the best way to empower anyone is to give them the same treatment as everybody else. If I treat women better than men because I feel that we are overlooked, then I’m really not fixing the problem. I’m just taking it to the opposite extreme.

I have only been lucky to work in this industry for a year now and so far I haven’t felt any struggles from being a woman. I have to say it’s the least I’ve dealt with that issue in my entire 25+ years working in general.

Why did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
I wanted to get the opportunity to work in the industry so I can continue to learn more about all the benefits it provides. I am into holistic nutrition and wellness, so it is definitely something that I am interested in learning all I can about.

I have a great relationship with all the women I work with! We build each other up and bounce ideas off each other all the time. It’s a really positive work environment.

This is an amazing industry!!! I can say with confidence my experience in the cannabis industry has been nothing short of amazing!

Why did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
I suffered 2 strokes in 2019. I couldn’t walk, shower, or take care of myself. I did everything the doctors asked me to do. Took every pill they gave me and I was not getting any better. My primary doctor suggested I try cannabis so, I started with CBD and got a little better. Then did a 1:1 mixture with tinctures and flower and I got better! I want to make people better! That is why I am in this industry.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
I empower other women by being myself! I’m a strong woman and if people see me being strong then they know that they can be strong too!

I have gone from Administration and Operations for a cultivation facility to my current position being a Brand Ambassador for multiple companies. One big struggle I’ve experienced as a woman is fighting for my voice to be heard or taken seriously. I’ve been lucky enough to have some amazing people by my side that have helped me find and keep my voice!

What is your favorite part about working in the industry?
My favorite part about working in the industry, as cheesy as it may sound, is getting to meet and interact with some amazing people! I’ve met some of the most genuine souls thanks to cannabis and this wonderful industry and I’m thankful for them every day.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
I empower other women in the cannabis industry any way I can. Sometimes that is simply by being an open ear and other times it’s rolling up my sleeves and lending a hand. There’s no one way to empower other women but I’ve found connections through Instagram and Blunt Brunch that l’ve been able to create mutually beneficial opportunities with and have gained meaningful friendships as a result.

What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
I think it’s been really challenging to have men look at you as an equal and a lot of times we get taken advantage of because we are women. Even other women have done this to other women. You know what I mean? It’s learning to trust the right people and to go into business with the right people. To make alliances as women we need to follow our gut and our instinct. Sometimes things look really shiny and pretty and you wanna go for it but do a little gut check first.

Why did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
My daughter Yazzy, who is now 21, back when she was 14 years old she had spinal fusion surgery and was prescribed opioids and she fell terribly ill due to the prescription. She had an adverse effect of her GI system and it completely paralyzed her stomach so she has a surgical tube that has been placed in her stomach where she gets formula and most of her nutrition. It’s totally different for us. So, obviously life is completely different and as a mom just being desperate looking for other options to help my daughter with her nausea, pain, and suffering. I found cannabis! I saw other parents were using it for cancer related issues and they had similar symptoms my daughter was having from gastroparesis. We tried it and it worked amazingly. Almost immediately we saw a difference and i felt so compelled to share this message with other parents who might also be skeptical and unsure what they should do.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
Via Blunt Brunch. It is an event series for executive women in cannabis and through our events we are able to have blunt conversations about things that women are going through. We come together as a community to help uplift each other and I feel like your vibe attracts your tribe and that’s exactly what Blunt Brunch is. It’s a true testament of what Adelia and I envisioned for ourselves and we are now in 5 different states. Hosting big national events with hundreds of women that come from all over the nation. It’s really exciting to have a space where women can be vulnerable but also be celebrated.

As a QWOC the odds are greatly against my community and especially in the cannabis industry. The repercussion of being underestimated, outcasted and belittled, is the growing struggle to remain resilient and light hearted. I am very passionate and driven to succeed in this industry and facing these struggles relentlessly is my greatest obstacle.

What did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
I’m changing my family’s narrative by working in the cannabis industry. I come from generations of substance abuse, the war on drugs criminalized us and ingrained much fear around cannabis. Everyday I remember that I am writing herstory not only for the cannabis industry but for my family and community.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
By being a rock star! I put 120% into everything I do and remain authentic at every turn. I have been the only woman on my team enough times to know that simply having an ally changes everything. No need to wait for an invite to the “Boys Club”, no need to be sexualized or feel unsafe. I hold space in every room and conversation for my community.
