What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
I’ve noticed that being a woman and being short gets me overlooked, a lot. People always tend to assume that whatever male coworker I’m working with that day is the manager, when I actually am the manager. I’m not necessarily treated rudely after they find out, but the fact that it shocks some people is mildly annoying. Of course, this isn’t every interaction I have, but it does happen.

Why did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
I really wanted to work in the cannabis industry because I have a passion for the benefits it provides and wanted to invest my time into a job where I felt passionate.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
In order to promote other women in the industry I treat every single person man and woman like equals and I never gender-assign roles. I don’t assume that a woman can’t lift a heavy box or that a man can’t sweep. We are all equal adults and I think the best way to empower anyone is to give them the same treatment as everybody else. If I treat women better than men because I feel that we are overlooked, then I’m really not fixing the problem. I’m just taking it to the opposite extreme.

What’s your favorite Halo Infusions product?
Halo Infusions produces a great lineup, but my favorite product is the Chronic Health 1:1 Ointment. It’s a lifesaver!

What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
As a QWOC the odds are greatly against my community and especially in the cannabis industry. The repercussion of being underestimated, outcasted and belittled, is the growing struggle to remain resilient and light hearted. I am very passionate and driven to succeed in this industry and facing these struggles relentlessly is my greatest obstacle.

What did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
I’m changing my family’s narrative by working in the cannabis industry. I come from generations of substance abuse, the war on drugs criminalized us and ingrained much fear around cannabis. Everyday I remember that I am writing herstory not only for the cannabis industry but for my family and community.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
By being a rock star! I put 120% into everything I do and remain authentic at every turn. I have been the only woman on my team enough times to know that simply having an ally changes everything. No need to wait for an invite to the “Boys Club”, no need to be sexualized or feel unsafe. I hold space in every room and conversation for my community.

What’s your favorite Halo Infusions product?
The Pure and Simple Juices! All of them are great but the Apple juice is my #1.

What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
Having a petite stature and a gentle demeanor, I’ve noticed there’s an assumption I won’t speak up in tough conversations or present an opposing point of view. In these situations, l’ve learned the importance of being able to support what I say with data especially being on the science side of things. I think sometimes there’s an expectation that women should just be agreeable but, it’s okay to have those conversations to push the entire industry forward.

What is your favorite part about working in the industry?
My position entails all things science, from research to product development to testing compliance. I find it incredible to be a part of the industry when it’s still at its inception. I really look forward to seeing how cannabis science evolves as more research and clinical trials are conducted! I’m super grateful for the progress this industry has made and I feel proud to work alongside other talented women who are also advancing industry knowledge and practices.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
Admiration! I’m lucky to work for a company that has women in positions of power and change, which is amazing to witness. I admire each of them and strive to show that in my communication and in my actions. I also think it’s important to support women-owned business, ventures, and brands within the industry.

What’s your favorite Halo Infusions product?

What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
I’m very fortunate that I haven’t faced any struggles as a woman working in this industry for the time that I have been because the people that I work with are very open so I’ve just never had that issue, never had that problem with anyone. Everyone just treated me equally and if you do the work they praise you, they see you.

Why did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
It’s limitless. There is opportunity that is limitless, there are people that I can meet that will help you grow from your experiences. It is just exciting, it is out of the ordinary, it is not mundane and you can literally do anything. You can have fun in this industry.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
I support, listen, appreciate, show love, and even say the smallest things like, “You’re doing great! Keep it up.” Even praising how strongly they hold down their teams.

What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
Grounding myself in this industry was certainly a challenge, however, that process also empowered me to break out of my shell and advocate for myself while creating sustainable boundaries.

What is your favorite part about working in the industry?
My favorite part about working in the cannabis industry is being a part of a movement that is creating positive change, education, and deconstruction of the stigmas surrounding cannabis. Growing up with a misguided understanding of cannabis and now being able to help shift the perception of it is extremely motivating.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
I’ve been surrounded by some incredibly strong women who have supported and inspired me throughout my time in the industry. I hope that I can empower other women in the same way by always striving to grow, leading by example, and staying true to myself.

What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
As a woman in this industry I’m pretty blessed to not have my gender be a hindrance on my career. I am actually pretty blessed to have worked with a lot of women in leadership and I think in this industry it’s something you don’t see too often. I would say that women are viewed as natural caretakers and just kind of breaking that stigma that we are here to take care of business and not take care of you as a person. I think just getting down to it that we are about business, we are here and we are doing it.

Why did you want to work in the cannabis industry?
When I was in college I made lots of connections through cannabis, meeting people I never thought I would come across. I think that’s really what drove me into the industry. Once I graduated it was a brand new world and something I wanted to get my foot into. Thankfully I have been able to grow into it as well.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
I’m a big YAS QUEEN, talking our women up. You know something that definitely gets lost in the business world is that connection and I feel like it’s very easy for women to connect. To be like,
“aye girl your hair looks good,” or, “that sale went
awesome,” or, “you ran that booth great!” Blunt Brunch has been a really nice networking event being able to meet a lot of women in the industry and support their brands.

What’s your favorite Halo Infusions product?

What’s a struggle you have faced as a woman in the industry?
Being taken seriously or just being looked at as an equal to some of the male counterparts. I’m newer to the industry so, I think it is kind of a double whammy. see some of the guys in my position in other companies or within the company and I always second guess myself a little bit with that confidence, they’ve been around they know all these different people. Just making sure I’m not getting unnoticed because I’m a female or I’m newer to the industry. That is definitely a struggle that I’m working on.

What’s your favorite part about working in the industry?
The people. Just connecting with the people and honestly when I get a chance to be in stores. Seeing the customers and the patients actually enjoy our product. That is probably my favorite thing, “oh, I never tried Jeeter and I tried it last night and wow the flavors were amazing,” or, “I’ve never been that stoned and it was a great high.” | could be so tired and that will rejuvenate me immediately.

How do you empower other women in the cannabis industry?
Encouragement, I think really. Like I said, I’m newer to the industry so I always feel like I don’t know what’s going on necessarily. So, just making sure people feel comfortable and that they are listened to and heard and it’s not just that we are here to achieve this one thing. We are all here to lift each other up and achieve a common goal; to change peoples lives, to heal people that need healing.
